The Exchange club of Brunswick gives Bikes to local children

Pictured are some of the bikes and the stuffed animals, Members of the Exchange club of Brunswick, Members of the Pilot club, and the Glynn county school system social workers

The Exchange club of Brunswick continued their Christmas tradition started over 40 years ago. Giving bicycles to children in our community. The program was started by Powell McDonald with the help from his friend Jimmy Hancock. The project was presented to the Exchange club of Brunswick after the need grew to be more than Powell could do by himself. The Exchange club of Brunswick picked up the project. The bikes are funded by Fines imposed on the members at each meeting by our Sgt in Arms Jim Seymour. John Franklin project chairman coordinates with Mrs. Marcy Bailey with the Glynn County school system social workers. The social workers determine who has a need. This year the Exchange club of Brunswick purchased the most bikes ever in the history of this Program, 150. The Pilot cub of Brunswick members Mrs. Charlotte Rocha and Mrs. Mary Rocha donated 50 helmets to be given to the students. Al Heick district commander toys for tots donated a stuffed animal for each of the students as well.
